Our best DARJEELING loose leaf tea comes from the foothills of the Himalayas. Known as the “Champagne” of Indian tea.

Darjeeling black tea has a large leaf which produces a wonderfully delicate and distinct flavour.

The tea is grown in the north east of India in what is known as the Darjeeling District which is in the northern part of West Bengal.
It is thought to be one of the most beautiful tea growing region in the world. There are over 8o tea gardens which lie in delicate mists and guarded by the great Kanchanjunga peaks.

The district produces high grown black teas with a unique flavours that cannot be reproduced anywhere else in the world.

Darjeeling tea is produced from the Chinese variety of the tea plant Camellia sinensis which can withstand the cold. The tea is usually grown, picked and processed all at the same tea gardens before shipped around the world for us to enjoy.

Because of the climate where the Darjeeling teas are grown the bushes do not produce tea all year around unlike most tea gardens. This means the Darjeeling first flush crop is not harvested until late March which can lead to shortages if there are problems with the harvest.

Goes best with savoury food or afternoon tea. Best without milk.
